FAQS
Location
Is the hotel easily accessible by public transport?
Yes, absolutely. Several tram and bus lines (e.g., tram 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9) stop at the Rhein-/Neckarstraße stop, just a few steps from the hotel entrance (on the right as you leave the building). From here, you can travel directly to the main train station, the sights of the city center, or our soccer mecca, the Böllenfalltor stadium.
How do I get from the main station to the hotel?
Leave Darmstadt Central Station via the main entrance (towards the city center). Walk straight ahead towards the large intersection (Rheinstraße). Cross Rheinstraße and then continue right towards the city center. After a few meters, turn left onto Kasinostraße. Follow Kasinostraße for approx. 500 meters – keep going straight ahead. The Felix Hotel Darmstadt is located on the left-hand side at Kasinostraße 4.
Where is the hotel located in Darmstadt? Is it in the city center?
We are located between the main train station and the city center, centrally located on Kasinostraße. The main train station and city center, sights and museums, Herrenpark, numerous shopping opportunities, and the Darmstadtium are all within walking distance. Find out more here on this website.

Arrival Date & Departure
When is check-in and check-out?
Your room will be available from 3 p.m. There are check-in machines in the entrance area where you can conveniently obtain your room card. We always require payment in advance so that you can get going right away in the morning. If you have booked several rooms under one name, please come to our partner hotel THE Darmstadt, where we can assist you with check-in. This also applies to anyone who has problems checking in at the machine or who is unfamiliar with check-in machines. We won't leave you on your own! The room must be vacated by 11:00 a.m. on the day of departure. You can drop the key card into the box at the hotel exit. Please be punctual when leaving your room, otherwise you will be charged for an additional day.
How does the check-in work?
- Pre-check-in via your smartphone: You can check in via your cell phone before you arrive, so you can relax. This saves you time at reception and allows you to go straight to the kiosk or your room at the hotel.
- Check in at the self-service kiosk in the hotel: A digital check-in kiosk is available on site. There you can complete your check-in yourself in just a few steps – regardless of the time or staff availability.
What if my key card stops working?
- If you lose your room key, it's no problem at all: You can easily get a new key at any time at the check-in kiosk at Felix Hotel.
- If that doesn't work or the kiosk is unavailable, you can get a replacement quickly and easily at THE Darmstadt reception right next door.
What if arrival or departure times don’t fit my plans? Early Check‑in / Late Check‑out
Depending on availability, check-in before 3:00 p.m. and/or check-out after 11:00 a.m. are also possible for an additional fee. Please contact us in advance to discuss this option.
Are there hotel parking spaces?
Yes, we have an underground car park beneath our hotel (parking fee per night €8 – payable at our sister hotel THE Darmstadt). But please note: the garage is very narrow! If you drive anything larger than a small car, you should definitely use the public car park at Darmstadt Hospital on Bleichstraße (current daily rate €16, diagonally opposite, only a 3-minute walk away).
Where can I charge my electric car?
If you want to charge your electric car during your stay, you will find suitable charging options nearby:
Just 1–2 minutes from the hotel, there is a large ENTEGA charging station at Kasinostraße 96A. There you will find several 22 kW Type 2 charging points as well as fast charging connections (CCS up to 150 kW) and CHAdeMO. There are also additional ENTEGA charging stations on Kasinostraße, e.g., at number 62, which is also within walking distance. This means you always have a convenient option for charging your vehicle close to the hotel.
What happens if I forget or lose something?
- If you forget or find something at the hotel, we will handle it in a straightforward manner: We will keep any items found safe and secure. You can inquire about lost items at any time—we will immediately check whether they have been handed in.
- If the item is there, you can simply pick it up at the reception desk at THE Darmstadt, or we will gladly send it to you by mail (for the cost of postage).
- If you find something yourself, please simply hand it in at THE Darmstadt – we will take care of everything else. This way, we ensure that nothing is lost and that every guest gets their belongings back quickly.
How does check‑out work?
Checking out at the Felix Hotel Darmstadt is really easy: Simply drop your room card into the box at the hotel entrance, and you're checked out. No waiting, no hassle, completely straightforward.

The Hotel
Is Felix Darmstadt Downtown a real hotel?
Yes, absolutely. We are a budget hotel. Our Tiny Room Design rooms (approx. 15 m²) are equipped with bathrooms, comfortable beds, high-speed Wi-Fi, and TVs. However, as a hotel, we do not have a large lobby, bar, restaurant, conference rooms, or spa. We focus on your overnight stay!
Is each floor designed differently?
Yes, each of our five floors is different. The wall colors, headboards, and other details were designed by an artist from Darmstadt. The theme here is street sports in an urban environment on asphalt, concrete, and Darmstadt's public spaces, graffiti, and—on the 5th floor—soccer. Let yourself be surprised by the design you end up with. And don't worry: even if you're not too familiar with skaters and graffiti, you'll still like our Tiny Room design.
Is the hotel accessible?
All of our hotel floors are accessible by elevator. We have rooms suitable for disabled guests, including rooms with connecting doors to a room for an accompanying person. Please contact us in advance if you need assistance in this regard so that we can reserve such a room for you.
Can we smoke in the hotel?
No, smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the hotel. This applies to tobacco, vaping, and drugs of any kind. Anyone who violates this house rule must leave the hotel.
Is there WiFi?
Free high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the Felix Hotel Darmstadt—perfect for streaming, working, and relaxing while surfing the internet.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are of course allowed and very welcome here!
There is only a small additional fee for your four-legged companion.
This means you can both travel with us in complete relaxation.

What room types do you offer?
We have classic rooms with a large bed (1.60 m x 2.00 m) for one to two people. We also have twin rooms with two single beds (2 x 0.80 m x 2.00 m). We also have rooms for up to three people (double bed 1.60 m x 2.00 m and loft bed 0.80 x 2.00 m). The “Double Room Plus” category includes particularly quiet rooms on the upper floors at the rear of the building. You can choose the room that suits you best during the booking process.
How big are the rooms and beds?
The rooms are between 14 and 15 m² in size. Our beds measure 0.80 m x 2.00 m per person. This means that a double bed for two people measures 1.60 m x 2.00 m. Our high-quality beds are supplied by FBF Fränkische Bettenwarenfabrik in neighboring Bavaria. What amenities are included in the rooms? What does room cleaning on request entail?

This means you have all your documents digitally, clearly organized, and readily available at any time.
What is the City Tax?
An accommodation tax has been levied in Darmstadt since January 1, 2023. It applies to every paid overnight stay in hotels and similar accommodations.
The tax amounts to 2% of the net price of the overnight stay. It is payable as soon as accommodation is provided, regardless of whether you actually use it. Cancellations that do not incur any costs are tax-free. The city uses the revenue to finance cultural offerings, infrastructure, and leisure activities.
Why do I need to provide a credit card when booking?
Booking guarantee:
Your card serves as a security guarantee to ensure that your room remains reserved for you until you arrive.
Protection against no-shows:
If a non-cancellable booking is not honored or a cancellation is made too late, the hotel may charge the costs in accordance with the booked conditions. The card on file makes this possible—at no additional cost to you.
- No automatic charges: In many cases, the card is not charged immediately, but only held on file. Charges are only made in accordance with your booked rate (e.g., prepaid rate or no-show fee).
- Fast check-in: With your card on file, your digital check-in is often easier and faster.
